aussie jingle bells

De uitnodigingen stromen binnen. Niet voor feestjes, maar voor alle uitvoeringen van kerstliedjes die op de verschillende lokaties gezongen worden. Van ons wordt gevraagd ook naar die lokaties te komen, de kinderen in het sereen wit gekleed. Vandaag krijgen we via school een lijst met liedjes voor het optreden maandagavond voor iedereen hier uit de omgeving. We worden geacht uit volle borst mee te zingen. Als we zouden gaan. We weten nu al dat dat niet het geval is. Maar toch wil ik jullie het Aussie Jingle bells niet onthouden:

Engine's getting hot, we dodge the kangaroos

All the family is there, sitting by the pool

Christmas day in the Aussie way, by the bar-be-que

Come the afternoon grandpa has a doze,

The kids and Uncle Bruce, are swimming in their clothes.

The time comes round to go, we take a family snap,

And pack the car and all shoot-through

Before the washing up, Oh!
